ITINERARY

Day 1 – Santo Angelo/ São Nicolau

Arrival in Santo Angelo, where the group meets (in the afternoon) and the pilgrims will be prepared for the walk and get to know more about the Missions. Transfer to São Nicolau, where the Caminho will start the next day. Tour to see the city, accommodation and dinner.

Day 2 – São Nicolau

After breakfast, visit to the ruins. The walk starts, going to the interior of São Nicolau. Stop for lunch and in the afternoon the Caminho will continue until sunset, depending on the group's rhythm. The accommodation will be in an old school.

Day 3 - São Nicolau / São Luiz Gonzaga

After breakfast, start of the walk until around 13:00, arriving to São Luiz Gonzaga, one of the Missions's towns. The pilgrims will be met by a local guide and will have lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free for visitation of the touristic attractions of the city, especially the gothic cathedral, the square, the museums and a cave. The accommodation is in a hostel, where dinner will be served.

Day 4 – São Luiz Gonzaga / São Lourenço

After breakfast, continue the walk through the interior, stopping for lunch and arriving around 17:00 in São Lourenço. You can then observe the imponent ruins of São Lourenço. Accommodation in an old portuguese-style house, where dinner will be served.

Day 5 – São Lourenço / São Miguel das Missões

After breakfast, the journey continues, with a stop for lunch and arrival to São Miguel das Missões around 16:30. Tour of the Museum of the Missions and to the Archeological Site of São Miguel Arcanjo, accompanied by a local guide. During sunset time, there is a show of Sounds and Light, giving the pilgrims the opportunity of getting acquainted with the History of the Missions.

Day 6 - São Miguel das Missões / Carajazinho

After breakfast, start of the 34 km journey to Carajazinho, stopping for lunch in the community centre of Esquina Ezequiel. Arrival to Carajazinho and dinner and accommodation in a local family hostel.

Day 7 - Carajazinho / Entre-Ijuis

After breakfast, walk until the Archeological Site of São João Batista. Lunch in a typical bar of the interior. Accommodation in a Park with swimming pool, lakes, green areas and sport courts available for the pilgrims.

Day 8 - Entre-Ijuis / Santo Angelo

After breakfast, continue the walk until the river Ijui, crossing it on a Ferry-boat. Arrival to Santo Angelo's Cathedral around 11:30 in the morning, ending the 180 km journey. Farewell lunch with the group.

- Land transfers as detailed in the itinerary (from Santo Angelo to São Nicolau and ferry boat crossing)
- Guided Tours as detailed, including Entrance fees. Local guides to visit the Ruins of São Nicolau, São Luiz Gonzaga, São Lourenço, São Miguel and São João Batista. Show of Sound and Light. Tours can change due to operational, safety or weather condition. 

- Kit Pilgrim: a typical walking stick, a charm Missions' Cross, a Pilgrim's card that needs to be stamped on at least three of the places of passage to give the holder the right to a Certification of Completion of the Caminho das Missões Walk.

- An experienced pilgrim that accompanies the group (not as a leader).

Transfer from Passo Fundo Airport- the closest airport from Santo Angelo

Accommodation:

In Simple adapted hostels, sharing a room with other participants. 

Payment:

Deposit of 30% to guarantee your reservation. The remaining amount must be paid a minimum 30 days before start of the tour. If reservation is made within 30 days of the tour full payment required to make a reservation.   

Cancellation:

Up to 30 days before full refund is given unless the flight tickets have been emitted. In this case there will be a penalty due to the cancellation of the tickets. This depends on the rules of the airline used.  No refund is given when a cancellation is made within 30 days of departure.  

Responsability:

Brasil Travel / Melchior & Hodson Ltda and/or agencies involved with the packages, flights and tours shall act only as agents of the tour members in making arrangements for hotels and any other services and do not assume any liability what so ever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to persons or property due to an act of God, default by any hotel, company or person rendering any of services included on the tours or flights. Furthermore, no responsability is accepted for quarentine, government restrains, weather or other causes beyond control. No responsability is accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of government authority.
